KUALA LUMPUR, (D5) - Pandalela Rinong Pamg claimed Malaysia's first medal in the World University Games (Universiade) after diving to a podium finish in the women's 10m platform event.

The 18-year old national diver took the silver medal after chalking up 381.75 points at the Shenzhen Natatorium, 3.5 points behind gold medalist Paola Espinosa of Mexico.

Hosts China took the bronze through Wang Xin, who finished with a total of 370.55 points.

Pandalela is in the running to add another medal as she and her diving partner Leong Mun Yee will be in action at the women's synchronised 10m platform event on Friday.
