Pahang catch up to soldiers

KUALA LUMPUR, (Bernama) - Pahang caught up with Premier League leaders Armed Forces (ATM) when they defeated club side Betaria of Negri Sembilan 2-0 at the Temerloh Stadium tonight.

The two teams now are sharing 26 points a piece, Pahang with an inferior goal difference, after 12 rounds of matches.

Azamuddin Mohd Akil scored the first goal in the 48th minute followed by Mohd Azuan in the 77th minute.

ATM on the other hand were only able to carve out a 2-2 draw against Police at the MBPJ Stadium in Kelana Jaya.

A. Varathan gifted an own goal to ATM in the 11th minute but Khairul Izuan made amends for the Cops with goals in the 63rd and 90th minutes respectively but the Soldiers denied them three points when Irwan Fadzly cancelled their advantage in the 93rd minute.

Sime Darby, who beat Johor MBJB 3-1 at the Selayang Stadium, are in third place in the table with 24 points overall.

Elsewhere, USM FC defeated Muar FC 4-2 at the USM Athletics Stadium in Penang;  Harimau Muda B beat Perlis 3-1 at the Shah Alam Stadium while Johor were held to a goalless draw by Pos Malaysia at the Larkin Stadium.

Meanwhile, in the two Super League matches played tonight, Felda United defeated Kuala Lumpur 4-0 at the Hang Jebat Stadium in Melaka while at the Darul Aman Stadium in Alor Setar, Kedah lost 0-2 to Sarawak.

Nizad Ayub was the hero for Felda United after delivering a hattrick with his goals coming in the 22nd, 36th and 73rd minutes while Farderin Kadir netted the fourth in the 87th minute.

Sarawak's goals were contributed by Mohd Shahrul Ezrain and Ashri Chuchu.
