KUALA LUMPUR, (D5) - English shuttler Chris Adcock sealed the deal with long-term girlfriend Gabrielle White after announcing that they are officially engaged via Twitter.

Adcock and White, who were an item since pairing up during their junior days, has finally taken the next step after 23-year old Acock popped the million-dollar question during a weekend out with White in Venice.

“Gabby and I are engaged. I popped up the question tonight in Venice and I got a ‘YES’. I’m a happy boy,” wrote Adcock, who is currently partnered with Scottish shuttler Imogen Bankier in the mixed doubles to fight for a place in the London Olympics.

White could not contain her excitement after responding to Adcock's tweet with her own "I'M ENGAGED!!!!!!!".

Bankier and Jenny Wallwork, who partners White in the womens' doubles, congratulated the happy couple via Twitter as well.

Two months ago, there were rumours that White was not happy with Adcock for having to partner Bankier instead of her. That time, it was deemed that Adcock would have a better chance at getting to the Olympics with Bankier, and their on-court performances have so far justified the claim.

It would seem that rumours are truly, just rumours after all.

We congratulate Adcock-White for the wonderful news, and hope they will have a smashing wedding ceremony. Off the court, of course.
