The boys sprang a 5-0 win over Indonesia before repeating the feat with a similar scoreline against Thailand.
Against Indonesia, G. Kavin Karthik opened the scoring account in the 10th minute, followed by Mohd Shaharil Saabah (18th), Hairulnizam Maizan (25th), Faridzul Afiq Mohd (43rd) and Mohd Rasul Mohd Yusof (60th).
In the afternoon, Mohd Aslam Mohd Hanafiah delivered a brace in the 15th and 50th minutes, while Mohd Taufik Abdul Hamid (22nd), Dangerous Lee (32nd) and Mohd Shahril (43rd) rounded up the rout against Thailand.
Coach S. Prakash was happy with his players' performance in the first two games, and hope it can spark a win against Singapore, who thrashed Brunei 8-0.
A win against the Lion City will virtually guarantee Malaysia a spot in the finals. The hockey tournament is played with a five-team round robin format, with the top two progressing into the final match to decide the winner.
